TelePort Owners:

The easiest way to find your current version of GlobalFax is to:

  • Open your TelePort (or TelePort Serial, TelePort Bronze, Fax/Modem) control panel. (Your control panels are accessible from the Apple Menu.)
  • Locate the version number in the bottom right of the control panel. (The number is not labeled as a version.)

If there was no version number on the control panel, please follow these steps to locate your GlobalFax version.

  1. Open your control panels folder from your Apple Menu. (Do not select any particular control panel.)
  2. Select (highlight) the control panel named TelePort, TelePort Bronze, TelePort Serial or Fax/Modem without opening it.
  3. From the File menu, select the Get Info command.. This will open a new window (e.g. TelePort Info).
  4. Towards the bottom part of the new window, you should see a number next to "Version." This is the version of your GlobalFax software.

PowerPort PC Card Owners:

The easiest way to find your current version of GlobalFax is to:

  • Open your PowerPort PC Card control panel. (Your control panels are accessible from the Apple Menu.)
  • Locate the version number in the bottom right of the control panel. (The number is not labeled as a version.)

If there was no version number on the control panel, please follow these steps to locate your GlobalFax version.

  1. Open your control panels folder from your Apple Menu. (Do not select any particular control panel.)
  2. Select (highlight) the control panel named PowerPort PC Card without opening it.
  3. Get Info on the control panel by going up to the File menu and pulling down to the Get Info command.. This will open a new window (PowerPort PC Card Info).
  4. Towards the bottom part of the new window, you should see a number next to "Version." This is the version of your GlobalFax software.

PowerPort 1xx Owners:

The easiest way to find your current version of GlobalFax is to:

  • Open your PowerPort control panel. (Your control panels are accessible from the Apple Menu.)
  • Locate the version number in the bottom right of the control panel. (The number is not labeled as a version.)

If there was no version number on the control panel, please follow these steps to locate your GlobalFax version.

  • Open your control panels folder from your Apple Menu. (Do not select any particular control panel.)
  • Select (highlight) the control panel named PowerPort or PowerPort for 100 Series without opening it.
  • Get Info on the control panel by going up to the File menu and pulling down to the Get Info command.. This will open a new window (PowerPort Info).
  • Towards the bottom part of the new window, you should see a number next to "Version." This is the version of your GlobalFax software.



PowerPort 5xx/Duo Owners:

The easiest way to find your current version of GlobalFax is to:

  • Open your PowerPort for 500/Duo, PowerPort for Duo or PowerPort for 500 control panel. (Your control panels are accessible from the Apple Menu.)
  • Locate the version number in the bottom right of the control panel. (The number is not labeled as a version.)

If there was no version number on the control panel, please follow these steps to locate your GlobalFax version.

  1. Open your control panels folder from your Apple Menu. (Do not select any particular control panel.)
  2. Select (highlight) the control panel named PowerPort for 500/Duo, PowerPort for Duo or PowerPort for 500 without opening it.
  3. Get Info on the control panel by going up to the File menu and pulling down to the Get Info command.. This will open a new window (PowerPort 500 Info).
  4. Towards the bottom part of the new window, you should see a number next to "Version." This is the version of your GlobalFax software.



OneWorld Users:

To find the version of the OneWorld Manager software:

Note: These instructions assume that you have access to the OneWorld Manager application. If you do not have access to this application, please contact the OneWorld Administrator at your site for information on upgrades and updates of your Global Village software.

  1. Open the OneWorld Manager application.
  2. As the application starts up, you will see a splash screen with the version number towards the center.
    If you miss the splash screen, or OneWorld Manager is already open, select About OneWorld Manager from the Apple Menu to see the version number again.

x To find the version of the GlobalFax client software

  1. Open you Extensions Folder in the System Folder on any machine that has the GlobalFax client software installed.
  2. Select (highlight) the file named GlobalFax.
  3. From the File Menu choose Get Info. This will open a new window (GlobalFax Info).
  4. Towards the bottom part of the new window, you should see a number next to "Version." This is the version of your GlobalFax software.

x To find the version of the Network Modem software

  1. Open you Extensions Folder in the System Folder on any machine that has the Network Modem client software installed.
  2. Select (highlight) the file named Network Modem.
  3. From the File Menu choose Get Info. This will open a new window ( Network Modem Info).
  4. Towards the bottom part of the new window, you should see a number next to "Version." This is the version of your Network Modem software.



Firmware Instructions:

x To find the current version of your modem's firmware, you will need a terminal emulation application such as ZTerm.

Note: These instructions assume you are using ZTerm, but you should be able to extrapolate the steps to any terminal emulation application.

  1. Open your terminal emulation application.
  2. Make sure that the application has the correct port selected for your modem (e.g. Modem port or Internal Modem) In ZTerm, this can be found in Modem Preferences under the Settings menu.
  3. Click in the main window (usually called Global BBS).
  4. Type in ATI3 and then press Return.
  5. The modem should respond back with something similar to:
    ATI3
    A812-V34_DS V1.401_TP
    OK
  6. The firmware version will be towards the end of the string of numbers that were returned by the modem. In the example above, the firmware version is 1.401.
You can now use this number to determine if there is a firmware update available for your modem.



x GlobalFax OCR Owners:

To find the current version of your OCR software currently installed:

  1. First you will need to find the application and then Get Info on it. If GlobalFax OCR has not been moved since it was installed, you should find GlobalFax OCR according to the following path:
    System Folder --> GlobalFax Files --> OCR Folder --> GlobalFax OCR
    If you can't find GlobalFax OCR following the above path, please use the Find command (usually under the File menu) and search for "OCR".

  2. Once you have found GlobalFax OCR, select (highlight) the application (without opening it) and then choose Get Info from the File menu.
    This will open a new window (GlobalFax OCR Info).

  3. Towards the bottom part of the new window, you should see a number next to "Version." This is the version of your GlobalFax OCR software.
