What is new in this version of the software
When you update your TelePort 56 x2 firmware, you get a number of enhancements, some of which include:
Support for the V.90 standard, better x2 performance in some environments Your upgraded modem will have dual-mode support for both V.90 and x2. It will automatically select V.90 or x2 mode based on what your ISP supports.
Who should use this updater
Only users of US modems should use this updater, damage to your modem may occur if you attempt to use this updater on any other modem.
Before updating to the ITU standard, first check to see if your ISP has upgraded the access number you use to the ITU standard.
Because ISP access equipment provides backward compatibility, most people can simply stay with x2 firmware and continue to get high-speed connections. Use this updater only if you have a Windows TelePort 56 x2 external or internal modem. The firmware updater automatically checks to see if you have the correct modem hardware before allowing an Update.
***Special note for internal TelePort 56 users***
This version of the V.90 firmware may not support Windows "Plug & Play".
If Windows "Plug & Play" is an important feature for you, do not use this V.90 updater. In order to update the internal TelePort 56 to V.90, it will be necessary to configure the modem as a legacy device using the supplied jumpers. Be sure to confirm the modem functions properly as a legacy device before updating it to V.90.

Owners of Global Village modems other than a TelePort 56 x2 for Windows.

How to run this updater
- Download the self-extracting file
- Double click the updater on your hard drive; do not run this updater from a floppy disk
- Launch the Gvflash.exe application
This installer is for use with Global Village Teleport 56 x2 Modems only.
