GV V.90 Flex Preferred Script

February 1999

The GV V.90 Flex Preferred script should be used to tell your V.90 modem to first attempt a Flex protocol connection to your ISP. This script is for use with Apple's OT/PPP and/or Remote Access software. It should ONLY be used if prior to updating your V.90 modem to ROM 2.200 your modem could successfully connect to your ISP at 56K speeds (i.e. 38000, 42000, 44000). If you do not meet these requirements then you do not need to use this script.

We believe that V.90 modems (modems that have a serial number beginning with the letters "TU" or are missing a "TUxxxxxx" serial number sticker) that could previously connect at 56K speeds prior to updating to ROM 2.200 were actually connecting using the K56Flex protocol. Using the Flex Preferred script should allow your modem to connect to your ISP using the K56Flex protocol at the speeds it was previously connecting at prior to updating it to ROM 2.200."
